Lately, I’ve been thinking about the importance of combining different abilities to improve our writing style. The more I observe certain trends, the more I convince myself that it’s necessary to go beyond a pen and a piece of paper.

A New Technique to Become a Better Writer

As a writer, it is your own responsibility to improve your word usage so that you can create characters, situations and universes.

“If you want to become a really good writer, you have to read a lot.” That’s the first idea that comes to mind when thinking about improvement. While I definitely agree with that, I also think there’s other helpful ways to get there.

I recently started doing something completely new to me: copying passages from my favourite books and lyrics from songs I really like. This technique is worth trying.

Getting Lost and Finding Yourself

In your artistic journey, there’s a mix of emotions.

Sometimes, you feel in full control of the direction of your ideas. You can clearly visualize the outcome of your endeavours.

Other times, you don’t know where to start. As soon as you have an idea, it fades away or something tells you it’s not going to work.

We all go through those highs and lows.

It’s alright.

Struggling is necessary to discover aspects of yourself that in other circumstances you wouldn’t have learned.

Sailors didn’t gain experience in a calm sea.
